MAMMA MIYA
Mamma-Miya, a planner app that brings awareness to the hats she chooses to wear, untangles her mental clutter, gives her the freedom of flexible scheduling and helps make space what matters most to her. Mamma-Miya has the first-mover-advantage in the digital space by being the first ever digital mom planner.
This was a project I did while working at Unikwan Innovations, Bangalore. I worked with a UX researcher and very closely with the clients. The goal of this project was to make the app user centric, redesign UI and identify usability issues.
Role : Concept ideation, Wireframing, UI Design, Prototyping, Interaction.
Tools used : Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, Miro board.
Client : Mamma Miya
Process

Challenges
• The app lacked to deliver the message it had to. The biggest challenge was to narrow down the problems that were to be solved.
• Improving User retention.
• Fixing all the usability problems.
User Research
Survey was conducted on 35 mothers aged between 30-50 years. 78% of them are working moms.

Prioritising the issues
We did a heuristic evaluation and narrowed down all the problems.

Defining the problem statement
Moms are full time worker. They barley prioritise themselves because kids, work, home & family take up all their time.
Product Vision
As a product, Mamma Miya will focus on these key points.
• A planner that also focuses on personal growth & importance.
• Bring awareness to all mothers that she is important.
• Every mom should be able to take some time out of her busy schedule & make space for what matters.
• Encourage her to do more of what matters

Gathering insights, information and brainstorming
Using Miro, my partner & I conducted several sessions with the clients to map out the new information architecture, revised user flow & key features of the app.

Defining the problem
Moms are full time worker. They barley prioritise themselves because kids, work, home & family take up all their time.
User Persona
With a fair understanding of the concept and User behaviour, personas were created.

Wireframes
We then started off with rough sketching sessions to map out the necessary features. Below are some of the many sketches we did.

Designs
Mamma Miya as an App has its own learning curve because the concept is niche and new. Some mothers who are not very tech savvy, might find it intimidating at first. It is a planner app that also focuses on bringing awareness to all mothers to prioritise herself and the things that matter to her.
I wanted to create a refreshing, easy, colourful, interactive and clean UI.
Onboarding
Onboarding was one of the vital parts of the app because the user had to input
data in order to understand the app. In this mockup, we can see that the user has to complete three steps before landing on the Dashboard.
Step 1 - User selects the Hats that she wears in her day to day life. This helps the user to know how much time they are spending under each hat.
Step 2 - User can choose the activities they do from Early morning till Night. This helps the user to be more organised.
Step 3 - User selects the things that matter.
This helps the user to make room for the things that really matter to her.

Dashboard
This is the newest feature to the app. As users complete their daily tasks, they can track their progress based on the hats they’re using. If they’re using “me” hat less compared to all other hats, the app nudges them to use it more by suggesting self care and wellness reminders.

Brain Dump
Brain dump is literally what it means. User can enter text, save it and come back to it later. They also have an option to schedule it.

Common Add Button
The plus button on the Nav bar is used to add a task to My day or to Dump a thought in Brain Dump.
Brain Dump - By clicking the add button, the user can just write something that’s on their mind and save it. It will automatically be saved in Brain Dump section and they can later come back to it.
My day - By clicking the add button, the user can writes and if they decide to schedule it, it will be saved in My day section.
My Day
My day is the planner section. User's day is divided into five different times. Early morning, Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night. Tasks are going to be divided respectively.
